Medicare Rebates

Whilst a referral is not necessary to be seen at Helix Hearing, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for a hearing assessment with a referral from a medical practitioner, for example a GP, paediatrician or ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. Rebates for wax removal are available only if you have a Team Care Arrangement Plan from your GP, with a session/s with an Audiologist.

Any referral must be provided at the time of your appointment and is the responsibility of the patient to source/provide this referral. Full-fee payment is required on the day and any applicable Medicare rebate will be processed.

Alternatively, if you have private health insurance, you may wish to claim through your extras coverage. Unfortunately, HICAPS is not available for Audiology. A receipt will be provided with the required detail to be reimbursed by your health fund.

*It is fraudulent to claim on both Medicare and your private health insurance for the same service item.

Payment is strictly required on the day of consultation unless otherwise arranged and authorised with management.

Payment can be made either by cash, EFTPOS, credit card or direct bank transfer. We do not require a medical referral from you in order to book an appointment.

Accreditation

Helix Hearing is fully accredited with WorkSafe, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP).

Should you have an existing Worksafe hearing claim or eligible for a new claim then we are able to assist, with the costs covered by the Worksafe Insurer.

As with the HSP, should you be eligible then all services are covered. All audiologists are accredited with Audiology Australia and maintain their ongoing professional development obligations.
