How to Remove Ear Wax Blockage Fast?

Posted On: August 22, 2021

Ear wax is our ear’s natural way of protecting themselves from dirt and dust, water, and foreign objects (even insects!). Ear wax is only produced in the outer third of the ear canal and for most people, their ears will clean themselves. If your ears need a bit of help there are a few ear wax removal methods, however, the fastest, safest and most gentle way in most cases is by microsuction performed by a trained audiologist, doctor or nurse.

Microsuction uses a tiny vacuum that sucks the wax gentle from the ear canal. There is generally less risk of trauma to the ear, such as eardrum perforation than other methods like syringing where water is flushed into the canal. Sometimes it is surprising to find out that ear wax is not the culprit of your symptoms after all. At Helix Hearing our audiologists can also provide a hearing test for further investigation if needed. We also work alongside Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialists at our Narre Warren and Richmond clinics, which some patients may need to see for medical care of the ears if their symptoms are caused by something other than wax, such as infection or middle ear blockage.
