There is a wide variety of hearing aid styles, brands, features and technology levels. Deciding which type of hearing aid is best suited to you can seem like an overwhelming decision. At Helix Hearing we are passionate about finding the right hearing aid option to meet the needs of each individual. We are here to take you through the process of hearing aid sale from the very start, to ensure you get the most out of your hearing aids.

We believe the fitting of hearing aids should be treated as any other medical device and is an ongoing journey. We are here to guide and assist you over the years. At your appointment, your audiologist will talk you through each different hearing aid option and make recommendations about which device is the most suitable for your hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your communication needs. There is no pressure on the patient for hearing aid sales. The decision to purchase a hearing aid is solely the patient. It is our job to equip you with the most appropriate professional advice to guide your decision and allow you to reflect and discuss with family/partners as required.

Helix Hearing is a fully independent practise which means we are not obligated to prescribe any particular hearing aid manufacturer. We have access to all hearing aid manufacturers and can recommend the device that best suits the patients’ needs by choosing from all the available options. The most commonly asked question is “what is the hearing aid price?” The cost of hearing aids largely depends on the level of technology (i.e. the sophistication of the features inside the hearing aid) and can typically range from approximately $1500-8000 a pair for a privately funded patient. The technology level that is most appropriate for you is based on your lifestyle and what kind of listening situations you commonly find yourself in.

Our Audiologists will discuss this with you and explain the benefits of each feature, including the limitations of lower technology so you know what you can expect from the hearing aid. Our Audiologists do not receive commission or financial incentive for hearing aid sales, so rest assured the advice provided to you is unbiased, professional and in your best interests. Your Audiologist will also discuss all available funding options to you including possible funding from The Hearing Services Program (HSP) for eligible pension cardholders, the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Work safe Victoria, Private Health Insurance and Job Access Victoria. You may be eligible for fully subsidised hearing aids under the government’s Hearing Services Program and our Audiologists will always discuss this option with you if you are eligible. Patients who hold a pension card and are eligible for the Hearing Services Program voucher may use their voucher to access fully subsidised hearing aids or they may elect to pay on top of their voucher to access higher technology level hearing aids.
